Serving the Media
What would football be without the media? Similarly, what would the media be without football? Anyone who asks himself these two hypothetical questions and tries to picture a world without the media or the game of football will quickly understand just how crucial they both are to our daily lives. Football and the media are part and parcel of our lives, but you cannot imagine one without the other. They form a wonderful symbiosis, with each one profiting from the existence of the other.
Not a day goes by without another major story breaking in football and the game constantly provides the media with all it needs to write new headlines, match reports, research stories, background articles or personal stories.
The media officers of the S.League have a key role to play in all of this, reporting on events on the pitch and decisions taken by committees. We provide a service; we act as a mouthpiece. This cooperation and they way it is shaped are of vital importance. It is not just about creating the ideal working environment for journalists, photographers, radio/TV commentators, Internet editors or technicians. As the service providers for these groups of people, our aim must be to provide the public with a comprehensive, punctual and transparent information service. Conversely we also have the right to demand that reports be critical, yet fair and balanced.
New forms of communication may well have provided us with even more options, but they also pose a new set of challenges.
We hope that you will find this to be an interesting and informative read and that it will help you in your daily work as a media professional. Of course, the S.League Corporate Communications Department remains at your disposal for any advice or to answer any questions that may arise from the contents of this section of the website.
